The garment: A white cotton t-shirt with multi-colored ribbons and patches. The care label states: “machine wash-do not soak-dry flat-do not tumble dry-do not dry clean” with the corresponding International Code Symbols.

The problem:  During proper professional wet cleaning the green fabric ribbon dye bleeds resulting in transfer of fugitive color onto the white fabric. All the other trim dyes are mostly colorfast to the washing process, as labeled.

Who’s responsible?  The manufacturer must be held responsible since the green ribbon trim was not able to withstand the recommended care instructions without objectionable dye disturbance.

What to do:  This t-shirt should be returned to the retailer or manufacturer.
